About this organisation

The Centre of Applied Criminology has been created to build on the existing foundations of research on criminal law and criminal justice already undertaken within the University. 

To meet the needs of new research opportunities, the Centre will be forming close links with and utilising the expertise of professionals within the Division of Psychology and Law and the Faculty of Education, Law and Social Sciences. 

The Centre undertakesresearch programmes in forensic psychology and criminology to achieve an improved and better informed criminal justice policy and provides a consultancy service to assist the professional development needs of practitioners and organisations working within the criminal justice system. 

Current areas of research interest include state and community security studies, internet usage of those involved in criminal activity, prisons and all aspects of penal reform.
