About this organisation

The Centre's primary focus is on art and its aesthetics, aiming to address problems and historical, political, social, cultural and technological issues surrounding Art in the Public domain.

The Centre for Fine Art Research is particularly concerned with the development and excellence of learning and teaching art and working closely within the community to engage with society and enhance its cultural life.

Working alongside art researchers and professionals, the Centre has created specific research groups to reflect and target research topics of concern within the University.  The main areas are: "Art in the public sphere" ,  "Art and design historians", "Meaning and form through process" and "Performance and Performativity".

There are several research platforms and resources in place for the commissioning and production of research such as art and design archives, the Article Press, the Centre for Chinese Visual Arts, International Project Space and STATE/Eastside (a gallery/ performance venue).
